Following on form last year's successful The Book of Illustration Competiton, House of Illustration are yet again clubbing together with The Folio Society to challenge illustrators to illustrate The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories by Angela Carter, which will be published in August 2012.
'The Bloody Chamber is a collection of darkly sensual, subversive takes of traditional fairy stories, as shocking today as when the collection first appeared in 1979. These are Gothic tales, cruel tales, tales of wonder, tales of terror, fabulous narratives that deal directly with the imagery of the unconscious, with narratives suggested by traditional Western European fairy tales. '
The winner will receive £4,000 and five runners up will each receive a cash prize of £500. The closing date for entries is Tuesday 10 January 2012.
Matthew Richardson's design for The Outsider, the winner of last year's competiton, is now available to buy on The Folio Society's site.
