An new Hirst exhibition will be opening in Leeds Art Gallery today as part of the national Artist Rooms programme. Artist Rooms is a new public collection of international contemporary art, bought together by a collaboration between The Art Fund, Tate, and National Galleries of Scotland. The collection shows individual artists' work in more depth and is shown all across the UK giving as many people as possible the chance to experience them.
Hirst's exhibition is expected to pull in crowds as he has strong links with Leeds having grown up in the city and he also attended Leeds College of Art and Design before becoming internationally renowned in the 90s. The exhibition will be the first dedicated display of Hirst's work ever seen in Leeds and will show work from his early days as a student.
