Chile is one of the world's most volcanic countries with more than 3,000 volcanoes, 80 of which are active. Recently volcanoes in the Puyehue-Cordon-Caulle range have been erupting sending 3 mile wide columns of ash and pumice stones into the sky.
Spectacular lightening shows, ash showers which block the sun like an eclipse and blanket the landscapes have been captured by photographers, creating beautiful, colourful images which look like paintings. Take a look at some of the lightning and village scenes captured here.
